Correct use of the olive shaker

Preparing

The correct use of the Cifarelli olive shaker begins with its assembly.

It is very important when mounting the hook on the rod, orient it as shown in the image below, so that the rubber of the hook is on the opposite side of the grooves present on the eccentric joint.

With this assembly scheme, the eccentric joint will help the hook stay on the branch without having to do much pressure with the left hand; conversely, the hook will tend to jump from the branch, forcing the user to exert considerable pressure to keep it in place.

To make the machine comfortable, it is essential to adjust the length of the shoulder strap in an appropriate way for the user. This allows the shaker to be hung in a balanced way and perpendicular to the body without the user having to hold it with his arms.

Use

1.   Position yourself in front of the vibrating branch by hooking it perpendicularly in its outer half (never too close to the trunk) for these reasons:

• in the middle part the branch is more flexible so it better transmits vibrations to the fruits
• the perpendicular coupling, in addition to not damaging the branch, avoids excessive friction of the rubber of the hook that, if overheated, degrades rapidly.

2.   To avoid uncoupling the machine from the branch, lightly press the left handle downwards (no need to apply excessive pressure: the correct orientation of the hook with the eccentric joint helps it to stay on the branch); then quickly accelerate the engine to maximum.
